50 Cent became an accidental ‘Bitcoin millionaire’ after discovering his forgotten crypto stash
Imagine being so wealthy that you just “forget” about the millions of dollars that could be in the bank. Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, seems to have experienced it. In addition to being the creator of popular songs like “In Da Club” and “P.I.M.P.”, Jackson has expanded his career outside music by making appearances in films ranging from Spy to Escape Plan. It turns out that 50 Cent is a bit of a crypto bro when he’s not throwing out lyrics or posing for the camera. If he can recall where he put his wallet, that is.
An early bitcoin enthusiast, 50 Cent allowed fans to purchase his record using Bitcoin in 2014.
You’re not the only person who hasn’t heard of “Animal Ambition” 50 Cent made just 700 Bitcoin when “Animal Ambition” was released, and he quickly forgot about it.
Even so, it would be worth an astounding $69,156, 878 at the time of writing, given that Bitcoin has reached its highest point ever and crossed the $100,000 mark.
Bitcoin was only worth $662 when the record was first published. Customers were urged to purchase a copy of the album for a minimal amount of one Bitcoin, as his 700 BTC equivalent only generated $400k.
The find was apparently valued at $7–$8 million when TMZ first broke the story in 2018, demonstrating how much Bitcoin has increased. The American election is to blame for that.
Jackson shared a screenshot of the article on Instagram at the time, confirming the news, writing, “Not bad for a kid from South Side, I’m so proud of me.”
Additionally, he posted a picture of himself encircled by Bitcoins, writing, “Anyone up for a little coin? LOL. Excuse me, I’m getting to the bag, but I know I’m making you ill.”
Jackson insists that the money invested in “Animal Ambition” was changed into USD before it reached him, and in a strange turn of events, The Blast has received bankruptcy court paperwork in which he asserts he never possessed any Bitcoin. He claims that he agreed to the TMZ story since it enhanced his reputation.
However, 50 Cent has made other profitable decisions, such as earning almost $100 million when Coca-Cola paid $4.1 billion to acquire VitaminWater.
Not to mention that 50 Cent agreed to a lucrative $150 million agreement to appear in and executive produce the TV series Power soon after declaring bankruptcy in 2015.
These days, nobody appears to know how much he is worth. According to TikToker Frank Michael Smith, Jackson was worth $500 million in 2010, but bankruptcy and other problems made his value closer to $30 million in 2022. However, the fact that he appeared on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 to discuss his wealth would indicate that he is once again doing well. In any case, it appears that 50 Cent’s Bitcoin holdings, if any, are long gone.
